Connie Bence's career as a slayer is over.

She's now blood bound to a vampire. Nobody from the slayer community will give her the time of day.

Or so she thought.

A serial killer is stalking Rio, the victims are young women, and they have been drained of blood. Connie's old team reaches out to her for help. While investigating the murders, she uncovers a sinister plot to assassinate the new vampire king. The one she hates, but if he dies, so does she, because he's the jerk who saved her life and bound her with his blood. She's forced to enter the royal vampire court and follow the trail of bodies, because she can't deny the dead their justice.

But I should have called it quits after book 1. Sometimes you learn more about a book by reading the negative reviews, and the ones I read were spot on. While I have nothing against menage type romance, or even MM romance (although that is not my cup of tea), that only applies to well written scenarios, which this wasn't. It leaned toward erotica more so than the first book, but again wasn't well done. I found myself skimming the book as it didn't hold my interest well. There were also a couple of things I didn't like, specifically elevating Tane to a main character and making him part of the menage. I think he might have been my least favorite character. I found it particularly unbelievable that Tane would wind up being the submissive of the two men. Overall, the whole book just didn't work for me and I won't be reading further in the series.

Vampire CATCH The Angler Book 2 edition by Annie Nicholas Paranormal Romance eBooks Reviews

I had read the first book "Bait", and couldn't wait to delve into this one. Again, Ms. Nicholas did not disappoint! It had everything in it that the first book did....laughs, drama, intrigue, sex and love, I especially loved the sarcasm between the three main characters and would find myself laughing and thinking the same things. I won't give away any spoilers, but I thought the twist at the end would kind of freak me out, but Ms. Nicholas handled it with such flare and grace, that it came across as beautiful and tender instead of sordid and distasteful. I see by reading some of the earlier reviews, some did not like the twist, but I try not to label things and took it as something beautiful.
As soon as I finsihed BAIT I had to start CATCH and read until the end. Loved the new situations Connie and Rurik have to face in this book. It was as exciting as the first book BAIT.

I only gave it four stars because towards the end I was not liking were things were going. I loved the hot sex (and how often) between Connie and Rurik. spoiler? I am not into "more than two" sex and the explicit description of it, so for me it was a very big, big let down.

If there is a third book, though, I will read it as soon as it comes out. I still love this vampire story and will not miss any!
Let me start by saying I really liked the first book. This one started great too. The plot was interesting, the characters well developed, and we learn new things about them. However, the twist at the end was dissapointing. If you have not read it, here is your SPOILER ALERT.

I was not crazy about Tane and Rurik being bisexual and involving Connie in it. It felt like it poluted Rurik's and Connie's relationship and like he always had the intention to pursue that. He even said "there has never been the right partner". It made Tane's motives for binding Connie clearer too. I just felt like was used the entire time....
Connie is still dealing with being bonded to Tane, the Nosferatu that she had hated, but as time goes on and she and Rurik are under his protection at his fortress, from more threats that could be from more hunters.. she's finding that Tane isn't the monster that she thought..

even though she didn't realize it, she is still being used as bait to trap Tane, and she's also a target for her involvement with Tane and Rurik, and she won't go down without fighting for those that she has come to care for and fighting for her own life too..

this book was very exciting and i almost felt exhausted with all that Connie goes thru and deals with in the vampire world.. and when i got to the end, i was like, "dammit!! i gotta get the next book to find out what happens!!"
This book was just as good if not better than the first. This first chapter made me laugh out loud at the antics of Connie and Rurik playing hide and seek. The winner gets to be the commander so to speak in the sexual escapades at night. I found it very amusing and sweet. Book two holds just as much suspense, mystery and heart stopping moments as book 1 which makes it very hard to put down.

It's been a year and half since Connie was bound to Rurik and they have traveled all over the place until landing in Rio de Janeiro for New Years. She still hates Tane with a passion and loves Rurik to distraction. She can't get enough of him or his blood. In fact she hungers for his blood more and more every day which can't be normal, right? The reason is a whopper and is why after traveling all over the world and always letting Connie decide where they would go, Rurik takes them to Rio.

Tane is now ruler of the vampire nation and has been enforcing the new rules that Rurik believes in which is not killing humans. He doesn't look away like the former ruler Dragos did and will execute anyone that doesn't follow the rules so when dead girls start showing up in Rio they know that the killer has to be caught before the authorities discover the truth. He's willing to hire Colby once again but can he be trusted and get past what Tane did to him in Budapest? Tane knows that there is someone living in his nest that is out to kill him but he can't figure out who it is but this person knows his secrets and will stop at nothing to kill him, even if it means killing those that he cares about as well which means that Rurik and Connie are in danger as well. If you thought that she went through hell in Bait, it's nothing to what she goes through in this book!

Catch has many of the same characters as Bait but there are also some new ones thrown in as well. You still have Rurik, Connie, Colby, Red and of course Tane who were all major characters in book 1 but in this book you also have a couple of new characters that I wasn't sure about at first but slowly grew on me as you got to know them. You also find out some interesting things about Colby in this book that I didn't see coming. I would highly recommend this series and can't wait to start reading Hunting Colby which is a 2.5 Novella and already out.

I NOTICED WHEN I WENT TO PUT THIS REVIEW ON AMAZON THAT BOTH BAIT AND CATCH ARE FREE FOR A LIMITED TIME! Download them now before the price goes back up!
